So which one do you choose? And how do you know whether the cheapest is a bargain or a disaster waiting to happen, or whether the most expensive is genuinely premium or just a premium price?
Here’s the uncomfortable truth about PPF quotes in India: most of them are not comparable, not because the studios are dishonest, but because they’re quoting completely different products, different coverage areas, and different service standards under the same three letters. When you compare ₹55,000 against ₹1,20,000 without a framework, you’re not comparing prices. You’re comparing apples to mangoes.
This guide gives you five specific things to look for in every paint protection film quote so you’re always comparing the same thing, and you’ll know immediately when something important is missing.
1. The Film Brand and Grade: The Single Most Important Line on Any Quote
If a quote just says ‘PPF’ without naming the brand and the specific product series, it tells you nothing. ‘PPF’ is a category like saying ‘tyres’ without specifying the brand or whether they’re for a bicycle or a truck.
The Indian market in 2026 spans everything from cheap 150-micron TPH and PVC films that yellow within 12–18 months, all the way to 200–250 micron premium TPU films from brands like XPEL, 3M, SunTek, LLumar, and GSWF that carry 7–10 year manufacturer warranties. These films look identical on day one. Three years later, one looks brand new, and the other looks like your car has aged a decade.
What to demand from every quote:
- The film brand name (not just a category like ‘imported TPU film’)
- The specific product line or series within that brand
- The film thickness in microns (190–200 microns is the standard for quality TPU; anything under 150 microns is a red flag)
- Whether it has a genuine self-healing topcoat, not just the claim, but which brand’s chemistry backs it
A studio that won’t name the film brand on paper is a studio that doesn’t want you to verify what you’re buying. That alone should make you pause.
2. What “Full Front” or “Full Body” Actually Means in That Quote
Coverage terminology is where quotes mislead most consistently. “Full front PPF” means something very specific at a premium installer: the complete bonnet, full front bumper, both front fenders, side mirrors, headlights, and A-pillars. At a budget studio, “full front” might mean an 18-inch hood strip and a bumper, and they’d both call it the same thing.

- It covers specific defects for a defined term. Quality TPU film carries 7–10 year warranties against yellowing, cracking, blistering, and edge peeling. If the warranty doesn’t name these defects specifically, it’s probably covering very little.
- It comes with a warranty card or online registration. A real manufacturer warranty is registered against your vehicle’s details. You receive a card or confirmation email with a claim process. Verbal warranties and handwritten receipts that promise “5 years” are not manufacturer warranties.
Critically: a manufacturer warranty is only valid when the film is installed by a certified dealer for that brand. An uncertified studio can use a premium film brand’s name and still give you no warranty at all. Always ask: are you a certified installer for this film brand?
4. What Is Included and What Will Be Added to Your Bill Later
The quote that looks cheapest on your screen is frequently not the cheapest once you’re standing at the counter. Several legitimate costs are routinely omitted from headline quotes in India, and knowing what they are lets you ask the right questions upfront.
- GST at 18%. Many studios quote pre-tax figures, especially verbally. A ₹90,000 quote becomes ₹1,06,200 with GST. Always confirm: is the quoted price inclusive of GST?
- Paint correction. A car older than twelve months almost always needs a machine polish before PPF is applied because film seals whatever is under it permanently.
